The Learn-to-Earn (L2E) program offered by E3 Durham is a unique model designed to empower entrepreneurs through education and practical resources. By participating in various workshops and networking events, entrepreneurs can earn credits that can be redeemed for subsidized professional services. To truly benefit from this program, it’s crucial to understand how to maximize these credits and use them effectively in your business journey.

The core idea behind the Learn-to-Earn program is simple: engage in educational activities and earn credits that can be applied to professional services. This can include engaging in business counseling, cohorts, and workshops specifically designed to enhance your entrepreneurial skills. As you accumulate these credits, you can exchange them for valuable services provided by selected, local Business-to-Business (B2B) partners, referred to as L2E Providers, for up to $2,000 in free professional services.

To make the most out of Learn-to-Earn, first meet with your Navigator to identify which professional services will provide the most value for your business. They can help you consider your current business needs: Are you looking to refine your business plan, improve your online presence, or navigate tax regulations? E3 Durham’s L2E Providers offer services like legal advice, accounting support, digital marketing, branding consultations, and more. By aligning your earned credits with services that address your specific challenges, you can create a targeted approach to support your business growth.

L2E LevelsOnce you have an idea of what you need, familiarize yourself with the types of opportunities that will allow you to earn credits and move up through the L2E levels. From business planning sessions to marketing workshops, each activity not only enhances your skills but also brings you closer to reaching milestones that can significantly reduce your business expenses.

Examples of early ways to earn credits as you build toward Explorer level include:
  • Monthly check-ins with your Navigator
  • Attend 3rdThu networking events and workshops
  • Volunteer at a 3rdThu event
  • Meet with free business counselors
As you build toward Innovator and Champion levels, you’ll earn credits when you:
  • Host a resource table at 3rdThu
  • Present a workshop session at 3rdThu
  • Participate in cohorts and accelerators
  • Engage in eligible activities offered by E3 Durham partners

Maximizing your Learn-to-Earn credits involves being proactive about your learning and networking. Create a plan to engage in L2E activities regularly. Attend workshops that not only offer credits but also provide actionable insights you can implement in your business.

Networking is equally crucial. Engage with fellow entrepreneurs and industry experts during events. Not only can this enhance your learning experience, but building relationships with other attendees may lead to mentorship opportunities or collaborations that can benefit your business long after the event is over.

Here’s an example of how you can quickly earn 57 L2E credits and achieve Innovator level in one year with E3 Durham!

  • 36 = Attending 3rdThu events and workshops
  • 5 = Participating in 1 Cohort or Accelerator
  • 5 = Attending 1 Navigation session + 4 follow-ups

  • 5 = Volunteering
  • 5 = Attending E3 Durham partner counseling sessions
