E3 Durham's trusted local, community-based organizations, or “spokes,” are experts who know and understand our small business ecosystem.

Spoke partner The Helius Foundation works with small business owners and nonprofit leaders, and through specialty-crafted classes, meets these individuals where they are to propel their operation. Helius believes that entrepreneurs are made, not born, and has one primary focus: Using entrepreneurship as an avenue to build self-sufficiency and generational wealth for those who earn less than a fair living wage. They provide training and coaching for small businesses and necessity-driven entrepreneurs.

We are excited to have Helius serve as a counseling spoke.
Those who are interested in receiving services or resources can register to be connected to a navigator. Click below to find out more about The Helius Foundation!
LEARN MORE ABOUT HELIUS
"One of the most important things in the struggle to improve social mobility is access. Affluent, and even the upper middle class not only have access to capital, but more importantly, they have access to information. They know people who run companies, manage people, or have started businesses. And they can get free advice from those people with a phone call or over dinner.

E3 is at a place where those who don't have parents that are entrepreneurs or who don't have the connections to build a strong advisory can still find that information and get the coaching they need to use it."

Dana & Dwight Peebles are the founders of The Obsidian, where they curate experiences, connections, and community with a "focus on 35 - 55 year old Black men and women who are tired of the usual, inconsistent (non-existent?) social scene."

They’ve worked to create a safe and judgment-free community where Black men and women can meet new people and try all those outdoor activities that got pushed aside in their busy lives.
