Honoring Veterans and
Military Families

November is National Veterans and Military Families Month and this month, we take the time to honor Veteran small business owners and the many contributions they make to our community. With Veteran’s Day approaching and as we collectively honor those who have served and their families, we challenge you to acknowledge and support local Veteran-owned businesses in Durham and the Triangle.

“I understand that Black economic autonomy and collective wealth-building are essential components to ending the dominant narrative that is juxtaposed to the truth that, at a point in recent history, Black communities across this country were self-sufficient and thriving. I believe that Forward Cities is a tool that can be mobilized to help that goal become a reality once again. “

“I think it is important to create a genuine community to ensure that people feel valued, cared for, and supported. Being an entrepreneur, dreamer, or creative is a uniquely challenging journey. People need to know they are not alone and have a place of refuge to be safe. Freedom to fall down but also help get back up. “
- Tyra Wade
